Legal Partners & Associates volunteers at a TYCIA Foundation legal aid camp

18.07.2025 · with the TYCIA Foundation

Legal aid camp with TYCIA Foundation's Project Second Chance

Legal Partners & Associates joined the TYCIA Foundation's Project Second Chance for a legal aid camp serving people who are often unheard by the justice system. Representing the firm were Vansh and Soumya Singh, with Advocate Alsaba Ayyan.

The session opened with a legal-themed game of Ludo. In teams, participants answered practical questions as they played: the difference between bailable and non-bailable offences, what to do when someone is arrested, and what to ask an advocate. The firm's volunteers explained each point as it came up.

Afterwards, attendees raised concerns of their own, on domestic violence, divorce and maintenance, police harassment, recovery matters, and abetment of suicide. The team gave each person tailored advice and a clear sense of the next step. For many, it was the first time they had spoken to a lawyer.

Legal awareness workshop with India Vision Foundation, Bawana

With the India Vision Foundation, the firm held a legal awareness workshop at the Foundation's community centre in Bawana for families of inmates, former inmates and undertrial persons, many from marginalised backgrounds.

The session was led by founding partner Neeraj Kumar Garg, with Alsaba Ayyan, Bhavika Singh, Chandan Rai and Kartik Gupta. It covered basic legal rights, how to obtain free legal aid through the District and National Legal Services Authorities (DLSA and NALSA), how to deal with lawyers and courts, and how to recognise and report malpractice. "A lawyer is your helper, not your god," Mr. Garg told the participants, encouraging everyone to ask questions and seek clarity.

More than 80 people attended. The workshop used case-based scenarios and a short 'know your rights' quiz, and explained the changes under the new criminal procedure code, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, that affect undertrial prisoners and bail. The firm thanked the India Vision Foundation team for organising the session and reaching the people who needed it most.

Legal Partners & Associates team during a legal consultation visit at Nuh District Prison

Free legal consultation for inmates at Nuh District Prison

As part of the TYCIA Foundation's Second Chance Fellowship, the firm visited Nuh District Prison in Haryana to offer free legal consultation to inmates. The visit was arranged by the Second Chance team, Shubhra Aswal, Ragini, Karan Nagar and Rahul Singh.

The day began with an orientation and an icebreaker, followed by 'Ludo: Kanooni Safar', a game that set out the steps of the legal process in plain terms. The heart of the visit was the consultations: the firm's team, Neeraj Kumar Garg, Alsaba Ayyan and Bhavika Singh, met individuals one to one and in groups to help them understand their rights, their cases and the road ahead.

The TYCIA Foundation runs the Second Chance Fellowship on the principle that everyone, whatever their past, deserves a fair opportunity to rebuild. For the firm, the visit was a reminder that the work of justice does not end with a conviction.
